BSKB's practice group includes patent attorneys and technical advisors who have years of experience and expertise in biotechnology, bioinformatics, immunology, agricultural biotechnology, gene therapy, genomics, medical devices, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, proteomics, vaccines and drug delivery.

Many of our group members hold doctorate or advanced scientific degrees in immunology, biochemistry, botany, biotechnology and molecular biology. Many have worked as examiners at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or have held various positions in industry as researchers or in-house counsel.

All of the BSKB attorneys and technical advisors in the Chemical Practice Group have either undergraduate or graduate degrees in chemistry or chemical engineering. Many of us began our careers as patent examiners at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), chemists, process engineers or professors.

We represent pharmaceutical and chemical companies around the world and have prosecuted chemical patents in the areas of polymer chemistry, chemical processing and synthesis, catalysts, materials science, organic and inorganic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, physical chemistry and nanotechnology.

BSKB professionals have technical experience including: digital signal processing, computer architecture/software, optics, solid state circuitry, video and image systems, telecommunications, power generation, radar, sonar and inertial navigation systems and e-commerce.

Our attorneys’ experience, individually and collectively, includes all aspects of electronics patent and information technology patent law, from drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and abroad, to licensing, managing intellectual property and portfolios. 

BSKB’s litigation practice group counsels and represents its clients before trial and appellate courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). BSKB attorneys also have experience in patent opposition proceedings in foreign countries.

BSKB attorneys have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation in district courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC). BSKB also has extensive experience practicing before the PTAB both prior to and after the institution of the America Invents Act. Current and former matters before the PTAB include inter partes reviews and post-grant proceedings, patent interference proceedings, and various types of reexaminations. Our attorneys have a broad range of technical backgrounds and our firm is regularly involved in proceedings involving patents in a variety of technical areas.

BSKB’s mechanical patent attorneys have substantial experience in preparing and prosecuting mechanical and design patent applications, as well as providing validity and patent infringement opinions, intellectual property portfolio management and client counseling.

All of our IP attorneys and mechanical patent agents have a technical degree in such disciplines as mechanical and electrical engineering and are able to understand complex technologies.
