The Best Lawyers in Japan Awards

For the 14th consecutive edition, The Best Lawyers in Japan™ is proudly honoring lawyers at all stages of their careers for their outstanding work and leadership in the legal field across Japan.

Through the Best Lawyers Purely Peer Review® methodology, which includes nominations, voting and vetted research of all honorees, Best Lawyers provides the most thorough and comprehensive awards of the top lawyers across the legal landscape in Japan.

The 14th edition of The Best Lawyers in Japan™ for 2024 features 1,681 lawyers across two metropolitan areas. Tokyo is the metro with the most recognized lawyers.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Japan

With the expansion of Best Lawyers awards in 2020, recognitions for lawyers earlier in their practices, who have been in private practice less than 10 years, are among those awarded as the top lawyers in their fields. Using the same methodology as The Best Lawyers in Japan, the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Japan awards distinguish 315 lawyers from 52 law firms and two metropolitan areas.
