Announcing The Best Lawyers in Chile™ 2024

The illustrious Best Lawyers® awards have, for the 14th consecutive edition, been announced in Chile. Highlighting the top lawyers across the country for their esteemed legal acumen and accredited accomplishments, The Best Lawyers in Chile™ in an honorific that we are proud to produce each year.

A History of Best Lawyers

Best Lawyers was founded in 1983 as a resource for those seeking legal guidance and counsel. The objective was to offer a roster of lawyers who, by the valuation of their peers, were the top echelon of legal talent among their specific practice locations and specialties.

Best Lawyers awards encompass 22 global markets and partner with some of the most world-renowned publications. For 2024, we have partnered with Diario Financiero to showcase The Best Lawyers in Chile.

Best Lawyers: The 2024 Awards in Chile

The Best Lawyers in Chile 2024 edition recognizes 1,119 lawyers in 55 practice areas. Among those, 41 lawyers practicing at 28 law firms have been awarded “Lawyer of the Year.” The law firm Carey has 11 “Lawyer of the Year” recipients, the most in Chile, while Barros & Errázuriz, Claro & Cia. and Larrain y Asociados Abogados each had two recipients each.

The practice areas among recognized lawyers are robust and comprehensive, offering legal guidance to those in Chile in a multitude of specialties. Of the 55 specialties in which lawyers have been honored for 2024, the 10 with the most recognized honorees are: Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation, Tax Law, Labor and Employment Law, Banking and Finance Law, Real Estate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Natural Resources Law and Project Finance and Development Practice.

Among those seeking legal counsel in Chile, users searched most frequently on the Best Lawyers website for lawyers practicing in the following: Criminal Defense, Natural Resources Law, Energy Law, Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Insurance Law, Litigation, Real Estate Law and Technology Law.

Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Chile™

In 2021, Best Lawyers launched a new award, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch. Using the same time-honored methodology as is used for the traditional Best Lawyers awards, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch is a peer-reviewed award for lawyers whose private practice tenure falls between three and eight years.

For 2024, we are proud to announce the first edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Chile™. This inaugural edition recognizes 157 lawyers across 24 practice areas in Chile.

The top 10 practice areas with the most honorees are: Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Litigation, Environmental Law, Banking and Finance Law, Capital Markets Law, Intellectual Property Law, Energy Law, Real Estate Law and Tax Law.

“Law Firm of the Year” Awards in Chile

Each year, a single top firm is recognized for its work in a particular practice area nationwide. Based on several determining factors, which include individual lawyer feedback, the number of recognized Best Lawyers in a firm in the particular awarded practice area, the number of office locations a firm has, historical analysis of the firm’s “Law Firm of the Year” awards, materials submitted by firms and the firm’s overall scope and areas of practice.
