The Best Lawyers in Austria Awards

Austria has attained its 14th edition Best Lawyers awards for 2024, proudly honoring lawyers from across the country for their excellence in the legal field. Best Lawyers awards use a trusted methodology to produce awards through a sophisticated nomination, voter outreach and peer feedback process, ensuring that the country’s top talent is represented.

The Best Lawyers process began in 1983 under the core principle that the best lawyers know who the best lawyers are, and more than four decades later, that standard has never faltered. In 2010 we expanded our legal recognitions into Austria to amplify the essential work of deserving and talented lawyers.

For the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Austria™, we are excited to announce 500 recognized lawyers in 47 practice areas. Throughout the country, six metropolitan areas include recognized lawyers, Vienna with the most honorees.

Among the 47 practice areas with recognized lawyers in Austria, the top ten with the most recognized lawyers are Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Litigation, Real Estate Law, Labor and Employment Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Competition / Antitrust Law, Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Intellectual Property Law.

On our website, users in Austria searched most frequently for lawyers in Capital Markets Law, Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Litigation, Energy Law, Labor and Employment Law, Real Estate Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Competition / Antitrust Law and European Union Practice.

“Lawyer of the Year” Awards

The prestigious “Lawyer of the Year” awards, which distinguish one lawyer per practice area in each metropolitan area, are also included in this year’s honorees. For 2024, we awarded 32 lawyers as “Lawyer of the Year” across Austria.

“Law Firm of the Year”

Each year, our “Law Firm of the Year” awards recognize a single firm in a single practice area in Austria. Awards are determined by individual lawyer feedback, the number of lawyers included in Best Lawyers for that firm and practice area, the number of office locations a firm has, historical analysis of the firm’s “Lawyer of the Year” awards, materials submitted by firms and the firm’s overall scope and areas of expertise. This year we proudly bestow nine law firms in Austria with 12 “Law Firm of the Year” awards.
