Since founding Lubin & Meyer in 1974, Andrew C. Meyer, Jr. has become the nation’s most successful malpractice attorney, building the firm into the country’s premier personal injury practice. Backed by a powerhouse team of 19 attorneys, medical staff and legal professionals, Lubin & Meyer is known for precedent-setting cases that make headlines—and history.

“No other law firm is better positioned to handle complex, high-stakes medical malpractice and personal injury cases,” said a recent referring attorney. “Their talent, expertise and integrity—paired with a record of success—set them apart.”

Year after year, Lubin & Meyer dominates in verdicts and settlements. Last year alone, the firm secured 36 verdicts and settlements of $1 million or more—18 times that of any other personal injury law firm in the region.* For the 17th consecutive year, they lead the region in high-value results. But their impact goes beyond the numbers. Lubin & Meyer has driven meaningful legal reforms, improved patient safety and earned a reputation for excellence in advocacy, community impact and client satisfaction.

“We are proud to be the region’s go-to law firm for medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury,” says Meyer, a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Hall of Fame inductee and three-time honoree on Boston magazine’s “Most Influential Bostonians” list, recognizing the leaders influencing the city’s future in business, politics, social justice and areas of civic importance.

As Boston magazine wrote of Meyer: “There are few greater friends to patient and public safety. Case in point: When Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly announced its inaugural Hall of Fame, among the judges, professors and big-firm legends was malpractice attorney Meyer. The publication cited not just the hundreds of millions of dollars he’s won for clients, but the ‘lifesaving changes’ he’s forced hospitals, manufacturers and the state’s Board of Registration to implement.”

Unrivaled Talent. Unmatched Results.

Lubin & Meyer stands alone as the only law firm in the Commonwealth with two partners—Andrew C. Meyer, Jr. and Robert M. Higgins—named “Lawyer of the Year” for Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs by The Best Lawyers in America® in 2011 and 2025, respectively.

The firm’s Tier 1 rankings from Best Law Firms® 2025 for both Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs and Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs in Boston, reflect its reputation as the premier law firm for injury victims and their families in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Elite Trial Attorneys Delivering Record-Setting Results

Robert M. Higgins – Named Best Lawyers® 2025 “Lawyer of the Year” for Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs in Boston, Higgins is among Massachusetts’ most formidable trial attorneys. His case victories include a $15 million settlement against Boston Children’s Hospital, a $29.8 million verdict for a birth injury and a $29 million verdict for a missed aortic aneurysm diagnosis. Other landmark wins include $28.8 million for a misdiagnosed blood clot, $19.8 million for undiagnosed cervical cancer and $16.7 million for a failure to diagnose lung cancer.

Krysia J. Syska – A Best Lawyers honoree for Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs since 2012, Syska has played a critical role in securing numerous record-breaking verdicts and settlements. Her high-profile, multimillion-dollar settlement was featured in Boston magazine’s The Secret Truth about Boston Doctors, a groundbreaking exposé on medical errors and patient safety.

William J. Thompson – Recognized by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs since 2010, Thompson consistently delivers significant wins, including a $14 million settlement for a lab error, an $11.48 million jury verdict for the wrongful death of an infant, a $10 million jury verdict for a delay in lung cancer diagnosis and an $8.5 million verdict for a cyclist struck by a tractor-trailer.

Adam R. Satin – A Best Lawyers honoree for Medical Malpractice Law-Plaintiffs since 2012, Satin has secured nearly $300 million in verdicts and settlements. Named one of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s “Lawyers of the Year,” his exceptional trial results continue to set the standard in high-stakes litigation.

Setting the Pace for 2025

Highlights of the firm’s success in just the first four months of the year include:

  • $17 million verdict (Satin & Attorney Lynn Hu) – Death following elective hernia surgery.
  • $7.5 million settlement (Higgins) – Delayed diagnosis of an abscess.
  • $4 million settlement (Thompson) – Delayed lung cancer diagnosis.
  • $3 million settlement (Attorney Andrew Miller) – Delayed kidney stone infection diagnosis leading to amputation.

Fighting for Justice in Landmark Civil Lawsuit

Lubin & Meyer continues its high-profile case against Dr. Derrick Todd formerly of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Charles River Medical Associates, representing more than 190 survivors of the rheumatologist’s alleged sexual misconduct. The firm’s lawsuit, which has gained widespread national media coverage including features in People magazine and The Washington Post, accuses Todd of conducting invasive exams without gloves or medical instruments—some lasting up to 45 minutes—leaving patients traumatized. In January 2025, a Middlesex County Grand Jury criminally indicted Todd on two counts of rape.

“We proudly represent nearly 200 brave victims—adults and minors—whose case has rightfully captured the nation’s attention,” says Meyer, who leads the case alongside Thompson. “Our reputation as the hardest-working, most successful personal injury law firm is built on our commitment to obtain appropriate compensation for those who have suffered preventable harm. We are often an injury victim’s only recourse – which is a privilege we take very seriously.”
