Rash Mueller Knows What it Means to Help

David Rash of Rash Mueller draws from first-hand experience on the affects of tragic personal injury and loss. His Florida law firm has spent years dedicated to helping the injured find justice.

David Rash knows what it means to suffer injustice, to feel loss, to search for answers—and to help others.

At age two, he lost his father, a beloved college football coach, to a car accident. His mother, a clinical social worker, never remarried, raising two sons as she dedicated her career to lifting up others.

“What drives me is the desire to help people, particularly in the face of the tragedy that had befallen on me and my family,” Rash says. “I always felt that I was leading a life looking for justice.”

Rash is the founder and managing partner of Rash Mueller, a nationally recognized law firm based in Weston, Florida, just west of Fort Lauderdale. The firm is dedicated to finding justice for those who have been injured.

The firm represents patients catastrophically injured or the families of those killed by medical malpractice. It helps the victims of truck accidents, and gives voice to those harmed at sea, from the fishermen who lost their livelihoods to the BP oil spill, to travelers hurt while aboard cruise ships.

“The law is a way to drill down to the core of our system and talk to people in the community and ask them to decide, based upon what is presented to them, what they want for their community,” Rash says. “Do they want a company that disregards its own policies? Or do they want people to follow the rules and make it safe for everybody in the community?”

Rash Mueller’s exclusive team of two trial-tested attorneys brings a personal, hands-on approach to every case. They select fewer than a dozen cases a year—turning away more than they accept—ensuring that they devote maximum time, effort and resources to every single client.

Once a case is selected, Rash and his fellow managing partner, Jeff Mueller, personally handle

every aspect, from focus grouping and depositions, to motion practice, mediations, trials, appeals, and most important, client relationships. Throughout the process, the firm maintains an open-door policy, empowering their clients to talk directly with their lawyers—their advocates—anytime they choose.

“We make sure every client gets the full attention and resources they need,” Rash says. “We spare no expense, no effort. We handle every case as if we’re going to trial.”

Rash Mueller blends battle-tested practices with cutting-edge technology. In fights against deep-pocketed insurance companies, faceless hospital systems and multinational conglomerates, it draws on the tactics Rash learned fighting the tobacco industry, helping win a historic $4 billion verdict with ferocious attorney Stanley Rosenblatt. It incorporates strategies studied from focus groups—community members gathered together to predict how juries will respond in the courtroom.

“The best approach is talking to people in the community, because they’re the ones who are going to be deciding your case,” Rash says. “It’s not just that the car ran a red light, but why it ran a red light.”

The approach has worked.

Rash Mueller recently won $19 million for a father grievously injured during an outpatient procedure and $14 million for the young daughters of a mother killed in a truck accident. As one of the daughters turns 18 and prepares to head to college, she’ll be able to afford higher education with the confidence that her sister’s future is secure, as well, even as they both find emotional space to grieve.

“You lose your parent, you can’t bring them back. But helping them financially is going to relieve a lot of stress in their lives, so that they can deal with the loss of their mother in the way that they need,” Rash says.

Both Rash and Mueller are admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Florida. Rash is also admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana, and in the United States Supreme Court.

Rash has been rated AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard by the attorney research site Martindale every year for the last 23 years. This rating is given to attorneys who are ranked at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards by their peers. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers since 2021, and as “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 2023. Rash has also been recognized by Super Lawyers every year since 2016. Mueller has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” since 2021.

Their service doesn’t stop at the law firm. Rash and Mueller also serve as members of the American Association for Justice, the Florida Justice Association and devote time and support to Habitat for Humanity and I Care I Cure, a childhood cancer foundation.

“Thomas Jefferson said justice by the people is the cornerstone and most important part of our democracy,” Rash says. “When you have people determining what they want for their community with regard to how people should conduct themselves, you rely upon the value of our jury system."

But perhaps most important, it’s never losing sight of the victims that Rash, Mueller and their team are representing—or the juries they’re appealing to for justice.

“Holding wrongdoers accountable, you have to establish why something happened. That’s been a question I’ve been asking myself for as long as I can remember about why it happened to my dad.”
