The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, through its North Atlantic Regional Counsel, has issued a directive that effective Monday, April 6, 2020, all its members are “to cease working until it is safe to do so.” The directive does not apply to any health facilities being built to address the COVID-19 crisis.
In short, this means that those construction projects in Massachusetts still ongoing, despite state and local construction work suspension orders, and that employ union carpenters and joiners will no longer have such tradesmen working on projects.
If you require legal assistance with this or other construction related issues, please call or email Bernkopf Goodman LLP Construction and Surety Practice Group partners, Peter B. McGlynn (617-790-3390; pmcglynn@bg-llp.com) or Robert W. Stetson (617-790-3323; rstetson@bg-llp.com) directly.
