Annabel West, a prominent lawyer and partner with the firm Thomson Geer in Adelaide, Australia, has a bevy of unforgettable accomplishments in her career practicing corporate and securities law. One that we are particularly fond of is her listing in The Best Lawyers in Australia™. She has been listed in Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Private Equity Law since 2021, proving just how remarkable she is to her peers in the legal industry.

West’s work transcends Australia, with international clients from industries around the world. She has been an advisor on several acquisitions, divestments, IPOS, rights issues, partnerships and joint ventures. Many companies also look to her for corporate and commercial advisement, particularly relating to compliance and contract drafting and negotiating.

Along with her recognition in Best Lawyers, West has been honored as a recommended lawyer in Corporate Law for 2019 and 2022 and Commercial Law for 2022 by Doyle’s Guide in South Australia.

A few years ago, West was part of a Thomson Geer team who represented Winemakers’ Federation of Australia Incorporated (WFA), a winemaker, and Wine Grape Growers Australia Incorporated (aka Australian Vignerons or AV), a grape grower, in an agreement to merge and be renamed Australian Grape and Wine Incorporated, per a Thomson Geer press release. WFA and VA are the two top industry leaders in the Australian wine industry. West stated, “We are delighted to have assisted with WFA and VA to reach this historic agreement to unite the winemaker and the grape grower representative bodies to form a single united body.”

West has also worked with such notable companies as tire manufacturer Bridgetsone Australia Limited in a major acquisition, technology company H&L Australia with their acquisition of Canadian software company Valsoft Corporation and as an advisor to doctors and investors in the purchase of Adelaide Eye & Laser Centre.

West is married to Peter Malinauskas, who was sworn in as the 47th Premier of South Australia on March 21, 2022.
