Canada's Best Lawyers 2022 publication features the full results of our nationwide research initiative in print and includes more than 6,000 of the region's top-ranked legal talent.

Our cover story, "The Grave Reality" written by Québec-based lawyer and writer Sara Collin, delves into Canada's awakening to the unmarked graves of more than a thousand Indigenous children and explores how lawyers and the Canadian government are working towards reconciliation and a path forward. Allan Donovan and Nadir André, both listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada for 2022 in Indigenous and First Nations Practice, weigh in on moving forward through the legal sector.

This publication features more than 6,000 lawyers listed in the 16th edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada along with over 500 lawyers listed in the inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada. With the same methodology that is used for The Best Lawyers in Canada, our Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada list uses an advanced process of nominations, peer voting and careful evaluation of results to provide a list of the top legal talent in the industry among newer lawyers. The 2022 publication highlights both firms and lawyers who have received exceptional praise from their peers with the list of "Law Firm of the Year" recipients in Canada as well as the "Lawyer of the Year" list for 2022. This year, we showcase Montréal Defamation and Media Law 2022 "Lawyer of the Year" Richard Vachon who has a long career of high-profile cases which have earned him the trust of his clients and helped him garner experience representing a variety of Canadian politicians.
