Thomas Sherrer is recognized as one of Vermont's top courtroom attorneys and was recently named the Personal Injury-Vermont “Lawyer of the Year” for 2013 by Best Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Association and listed in Super Lawyers of New England. He has 30 years of successful trial and appellate experience.
Thomas Sherrer is an acknowledged leader of the bar and has served as President or Board Member of prominent local, state and national bar associations. He has served as a member of the Vermont Legislature's Medical Malpractice Study Committee and helped author a report on Medical Malpractice Insurance Issues. He serves as a member of the United States District Court for Vermont Judicial Selection Committee and CJA Admission Selection Committee.
Thomas Sherrer's practice focuses primarily on representing injured individuals and their families in cases involving nursing home and medical negligence, products liability, wrongful death, and recreational injury cases. He has successfully litigated hundreds of cases in state and federal court on behalf of seriously injured individuals.
Twenty percent of his practice is dedicated to constitutional law defending those charged with criminal offenses. He has represented defendants in over 200 federal criminal cases. He has an unbroken record of 15 acquittals in state court and is believed to be the only practicing attorney in Vermont with not guilty verdicts in two murder trials.
He is a frequent speaker at legal programs and seminars sponsored by a variety of legal organizations.
Tom lives in Shelburne with his wife and son. He enjoys coaching his son's athletic teams, running, skiing and reading on Caribbean beaches.
