Mike Poulin is a shareholder of the firm of Skelton, Taintor & Abbott in Auburn, Maine. Since 1983, Mike’s practice has been largely devoted to working with healthcare clients in matters involving licensing and regulatory issues, including compliance with Medicaid, Medicare and Certificate of Need requirements for construction projects and certain capital expenditures. He also advises and represents hospitals in matters connected to antitrust, reimbursement, contracts, employment and labor issues. In 2005, Mike played a key role in negotiating an $11 million settlement on behalf of an area hospital client in a dispute with the state Medicaid program regarding reimbursements during the period between the years 1993-2002. He also represents corporate and institutional clients in various labor and employment matters, including defending employers against wrongful termination and discrimination suits. Mike applies an analytical approach to solving client’s problems, and he believes strongly in finding practical, efficient and cost-saving solutions that will benefit them in the long-term.
