Joseph R. Re is a litigation partner in our Orange County office.Mr. Re is a nationally recognized trial attorney, representing clients in all type of intellectual-property disputes throughout the country. Mr. Re is also nationally known for handling high-stake patent cases for both patent holders and accused infringers. In addition to leading trial teams before juries and arbitrators, Mr. Re is also an appellate specialist, often selected to argue patent appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in cases handled by others. Mr. Re's successes have been extraordinary. In one of the largest medical-device patent cases in history, Mr. Re's success before the jury and on appeal led to a settlement which has thus far garnered over $700 million in royalties for the firm's client.Mr. Re served as the President of the Federal Circuit Bar Association, and since 2005, has been serving as a member of the Federal Circuit’s Advisory Council. Mr. Re has also written and spoken extensively on patent law and trial practice and procedure. Since 1990, Mr. Re has authored numerous appellate briefs on behalf of the American Intellectual Property Law Association as amicus curiae before the Supreme Court of the United States and various appellate courts.In 2006, the National Law Journal named Mr. Re one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America. That year, and repeatedly since, the Daily Journal has named Mr. Re as one of the top 100 Leading Lawyers in California.
