life-altering personal injury and medical malpractice cases, commercial
truck crashes, aviation disasters, birth trauma, and product
liability claims. A board-certified civil trial lawyer, Joel has
handled several important trials and appeals in Connecticut and
across the U.S.
Joel’s practice include $44 million in lifetime benefits obtained against a
Connecticut hospital for a birth trauma case resulting in a child's permanent
cerebral palsy. Other record-breaking cases include: $23,350,000 awarded for a young man injured in a work-related accident—making it the largest construction-related,
pre-trial personal injury settlement in Connecticut history—and a $25 million jury verdict—the largest known verdict in Connecticut history for a lawsuit against the state—for a man who was catastrophically injured when struck by a speeding state trooper. Joel has lectured before the Connecticut Trial Lawyers
Association, the Connecticut Bar Association and local bar groups
on trial law and lien issues, and is the contributing author of Truck
Accident Litigation, Second Edition, published by the American Bar
Association. Joel has also been elected a James Cooper Fellow of the
Connecticut Bar Foundation.
