Mr. Crowe represents clients in significant, complex high-stakes litigation of civil cases in state and federal courts that involve claims of breach of contract, fraud, equitable and tort claims, among others. In 2014 he served on the defendants’ trial team in a complex ERISA class action where plaintiffs’ claims for damages exceeded $1.3 billion. Mr. Crowe also represents clients in investigations and in white collar criminal matters. He has counseled clients in connection with criminal investigations by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and federal investigators as well as regulatory enforcement actions undertaken by the SEC, FINRA, EPA, HHS-OIG, and the FDA. Mr. Crowe has conducted internal investigations for clients, guided implementation of new and enhanced corporate compliance programs. He has also represented victims of financial fraud in efforts to recoup losses through court-ordered restitution and through insurance coverage.
Mr. Crowe was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Commercial Litigation since 2012 and White Collar Criminal Defense since 2013. He was named by the Super Lawyers® as a “Rising Star” among Missouri Lawyers from 2011-2013 before being included in the Super Lawyers list in 2014 and 2015.
Before joining Dowd Bennett in June, 2009, Mr. Crowe served for five years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, where he prosecuted narcotics and firearms-related offenses, as well as counterfeiting and fraud cases. Within a year of becoming a federal prosecutor, Mr. Crowe received a Certificate of Commendation from the United States Attorney for outstanding performance. Mr. Crowe was first-chair trial counsel for the Government in several felony jury trials. In addition, he achieved successful outcomes for the Government in each of a dozen appeals he briefed and argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Ten of those decisions are reported. As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Crowe was very active as a liaison to other members of law enforcement, by coordinating task force meetings with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, and by providing training on search and seizure, interview techniques, and narcotics interdiction.
Mr. Crowe began the practice of law as an associate at Bryan Cave LLP, where he was a member of the Commercial Litigation and White Collar Defense groups.
Mr. Crowe is married and has a son and a daughter.
