With extensive experience in First Amendment law and defamation law, Deborah has successfully argued matters before various trial and appellate courts, and is responsible for many precedent-setting appellate decisions in libel cases. She has represented a number of well-known public figures in defamation matters, including Martha Stewart, Kevin Costner, Rodney Dangerfield, Berry Gordy, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Steve Wynn, the founder of Mirage Resorts. She also represents corporate clients, including Fluor Daniels, Inc. and Mirage Resorts, Inc. In addition, Deborah advises public figures and corporations on First Amendment issues. She also counsels clients in intellectual property, appellate and entertainment transaction matters.
Deborah currently serves as an adjunct professor of defamation and privacy law at Southwestern University School of Law. She has also lectured for the Southwestern University School of Law’s LL.M. program on Entertainment Law.
Prior to joining the firm, Deborah served as special counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in Los Angeles. Prior to attending law school, she was a journalist for The Los Angeles Herald Examiner and a contributing editor for Los Angeles Weekly.
