Alan Stone is a shareholder and trial practice group leader of the firm of Skelton, Taintor & Abbott in Auburn, Maine. He is an experienced trial lawyer, representing individual, business and municipal clients in Maine’s State and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Alan has brought to bear his extensive trial practice background, skills and technique to represent personal injury clients in medical malpractice, automobile accident, fire loss, electric utility accidents and wrongful death lawsuits. In addition to representing plaintiffs, Alan has served as a defense counsel in numerous complex cases, including the successful defense of the state’s power company in a wrongful death electrocution jury trial. Alan also has represented defendants in several serious felony and white-collar criminal trials, including successful defenses in murder cases. He has authored several papers that have been published in the Maine Bar Journal and Maine Criminal Law Journal. He specializes in public utility and energy law, and he has been recognized in Best Lawyers® in America in energy law and in Chambers and Partners as a leading lawyer in the area of energy and natural resources. Alan regularly appears before the Maine Public Utilities Commission on behalf of municipalities, utilities and interveners. He is general counsel to Bangor Gas Company, LLC.
