For more than three decades, Mr. Davis has provided sound counsel to clients in the energy and natural resources industries. With deep experience in transactions and litigation, Mr. Davis structures his clients' transactions in a way that anticipates and avoids potential litigation triggers. Companies trust Mr. Davis to achieve favorable outcomes, and many have appointed him as lead transaction counsel in a variety of matters.

Mr. Davis focuses his practice on energy and natural resources law, with an emphasis on oil and gas, mining, public lands, and alternative fuels. He assists and advises clients in acquisition, title, financing, easement and access, operational and environmental permitting, and compliance matters on federal, Indian tribal, private, and state lands, as well as NEPA compliance, land exchanges, and mineral property development. Mr. Davis provides legal advice as transactional counsel in acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers involving hard rock, industrial, potash minerals and aggregate materials as well as oil and gas, oil sands, coal, and gilsonite properties in the United States and Canada.

Mr. Davis's extensive experience in complex natural resources, environmental, and public lands litigation complements his transactional practice. His litigation experience includes CERCLA (Superfund) and hazardous waste litigation, as well as civil cases for oil and gas and mining clients. Mr. Davis represents clients in cases before the Federal and State Courts in Utah and the surrounding Western states, and in administrative hearings before the Utah Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining, the Interior Board of Land Appeals, and other Administrative Tribunals.

In addition to his work for traditional oil, gas, and mining clients, Mr. Davis has extensive experience in oil sands, oil shale projects and geothermal development.

Mr. Davis is admitted to practice in Utah and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, U.S. District Court for the district of Utah, and the Ute Tribal Court.
