Lewis Thomason, P.C. originated in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1960. The values that the founders of the firm established almost 50 years ago are still important today. Through the years, the firm has grown from three lawyers to approximately 97 attorneys in three offices, but we still continue our commitment to provide the highest quality legal service in an expeditious, courteous and economical manner.

The firm recognizes the importance of responding quickly and personally to our clients' needs. We do not waste their time and money developing involved legal strategies when a simple solution will do. Alternatively, if a complex resolution is necessary, attorneys in our firm have the experience and knowledge needed to provide the best legal counsel for our clients.

For a firm built upon a tradition of legal expertise, our approach to meeting a client's legal needs is innovative as well as traditional. Much as an entrepreneur develops an idea and then makes it a reality, we rely on initiative and creativity to get results both in and out of the courtroom. How do we provide this full range of legal services? First, steady growth over the past years, including the opening of additional offices in Nashville and Sevierville, has not changed the basic values of the firm. We have expanded Lewis Thomason in response to the changing interests and needs of our clients by bringing in diverse, experienced attorneys in designated areas of law, while at the same time training new lawyers to enter the field. A senior attorney is appointed on each file and is assisted by the necessary associate attorneys, paralegals and support staff for each client. Our highly qualified paralegal staff is used to provide assistance to our attorneys and explore issues in an economical manner. By using this approach, we produce high quality work that is both responsive to our clients and cost effective. Currently, the firm's litigation attorneys handle thousands of active cases with claims ranging from nominal amounts to multi-million dollar suits.

While the firm was originally founded as a litigation firm, effective and efficient service means offering support that extends beyond litigation. A client's needs may include common sense business advice, transactions and formation, counseling, and complex litigation, all of which are services offered by Lewis Thomason. The more senior attorneys in each of our offices are accustomed to handling a wide range of legal issues. Of course, many of the firm's attorneys have vast experience in court trying many different kinds of lawsuits. In addition to trial work at all state and federal court levels, we conduct administrative proceedings before state and local governments and are involved in a wide range of mediation and arbitration.

Finally, the Nashville and Knoxville offices of Lewis Thomason have been selected to be members of ALFA International. ALFA is an international network of independently owned law firms. Founded in 1980, ALFA is the oldest and one of the largest legal networks. Its worldwide membership includes 120 law firms with 85 member firms in the United States. Over 9,000 lawyers and another 10,000 support staff work for ALFA law firms. In the United States, ALFA’s member firms maintain offices in virtually every major metropolitan area. Candidates for membership in ALFA must submit to a rigorous evaluation process and have broad general practices with expertise in many fields.
