Inclusion in Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer-review. The methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading
lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area. Best Lawyers employs a sophisticated, conscientious,
rational, and transparent survey process designed to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services. Our belief has always been that the
quality of a peer-review survey is directly related to the quality of its voting pool.
Lawyers can be nominated by anyone but themselves.
Current listed lawyers provide feedback on the nominee's work.
Results are calculated and feedback is reviewed.
Nominees are confirmed to be in good standing with their local bar associations.
Firms are informed of results and the list is published.
"Lawyer of the Year" recognitions are also awarded to individual attorneys with the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific Practice Area and geographic location.
Only one lawyers is recognized as the "Lawyer of the Year" for each specialty and location.
