For over 20 years Victoria specializes in protecting Russian and international businesses, as well as private clients in a situation of criminal prosecution. She began her professional career in 1998 when was admitted to Baikal Bar Association. Later she defended her thesis and received PhD in Law.
Since 2003 she heads the WCC and business defense practice at JurCity. Victoria has many years of experience in representing clients in economic criminal cases. She protects the interests of the business when law enforcement agencies interfere in its work. She also represents her clients both during the preliminary investigation and in court, including the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. She studied the International Protection of Human Rights at the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (Poland) and participated as a lawyer in the Rule of Law Program (Washington). For several years she attended the International Institute for Women, Law and Development (Washington). In 2019 she attended the course “How to protect rights in Strasbourg? Assessment of the prospects of the case and argumentation of the complaint”. Participated in the Human Trafficking program in the USA.
Due to her ability to explain any complex legal problem in simple words, Victoria Shakina is regularly interacting with mass media: she not only gives comments to journalists and is an invited expert in the media (in particular, on TV - Channel One), but she is also the author of many publications on issues in criminal and civil law.
