Ulrich Leo successfully completed a carpenter apprenticeship after finishing school and subsequently worked for two years in construction. Ulrich then worked in the agricultural field for a two-year period before he began studying law in Cologne.
Dr. Leo’s work experience in the field of commercial real estate law began during his legal traineeship at a large German law firm. In this same period, he was awarded a doctoral degree in Kiel for his thesis: “The Criminal Law Control of Prostitution”.
Dr. Leo has been practicing law nearly exclusively in the field of commercial real estate law since 1995. His work is primarily focused on contract drafting and out-of-court dispute settlement and prevention. As required, Dr. Leo also represents his national and international (mainly from English and French speaking countries) clients in court proceedings.
The issue of the written form regarding long-term rental agreements for commercial premises has been a focus of Mr. Leo’s activities during the past few years. In addition, Dr. Leo has specialized in drafting and reviewing (form) rental agreements for commercial premises since the start of his legal practice.
Dr. Leo is a co-editor of the magazine: Neuen Zeitschrift für Miet- und Wohnungsrecht and is co-author of the following works: AGB-Gewerberaummietrecht and Anwaltshandbuch Mietrecht.
He has been an instructor at the University of Muenster for several years. In addition, in the role of specialist advisor, Dr. Leo is extensively involved in providing continuing legal education courses and has written a number of specialist publications.
