Steve is part of the government investigations, compliance and enforcement section and focuses primarily on the state attorneys general and financial services practices. He represents clients in a variety of industries, including education, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical and insurance, and represents clients nationally before state attorneys general in matters including individual and multistate enforcement actions. His working knowledge of government, its agencies and their people, and the often difficult-to-negotiate regulatory environment affords added value to each of his clients.
Steve has an extensive regulatory practice, primarily focused on healthcare and insurance/energy. He represents regulated entities before the State Corporation Commission and insurers in regulatory matters and market conduct examinations before the commission’s Bureau of Insurance.
Steve also advises hospitals and physicians on federal and state regulatory issues, and represents numerous healthcare providers (physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors, podiatrists, nurses, pharmacists, optometrists, dentists, psychologists) in professional licensing and administrative litigation matters before health regulatory boards and the Department of Health, and in regulatory and reimbursement matters before the Department of Medical Assistance Services (Medicaid). He has many years of experience in representing hospitals, physicians, nursing home developers and other providers in connection with their applications for certificates of public need.
