Stephan Schmidt specializes in advice to companies on telecoms, IT, software and Internet law as well as on general terms and conditions and corporate law. He drafts, checks and negotiates licensing, project, maintenance and distribution contracts, general business and licensing conditions and also provides litigation for national and international clients. He also has expertise in data protection law and the organization of legally compliant websites. In addition, Stephan Schmidt is active in M&A within the fields of IT, IP and telecoms law.

Stephan Schmidt studied law in Dresden and Mainz. During his judicial clerkship he worked at the law firm Haarmann Hemmelrath & Partner in Frankfurt. He also worked for a law firm in San Diego as well as a specialist law firm for IP and IT law in Munich. In 2005 he established his own specialist firm for IT and telecoms law in Mainz. He became a certified specialist lawyer for IT law in 2008 and founded teclegal Rhein-Main Rechtsanwälte on January 1, 2009.

Stephan Schmidt was a lecturer for copyrights and media law at the Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences for Design and IT until 2007 and is the author of various legal articles. He also co-authored a report on IT law "juris PraxisReport IT-Recht" as well as the guidebook IT-Security - Datensicherheit und Datenschutz im Unternehmen aus rechtlicher und praktischer Sicht published in 2007. He is a frequent speaker at conventions and expert conferences and is also a member of the German Association for Law and Computer Science (DGRI), the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw) and the German Bar Association's IT Law Working Group (DAVIT).
