Sheila has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Family Law and Family Alternative Dispute Resolution since 1995. Sheila has been recognized by Best Lawyers as one of Washington D.C. and Baltimore's "Best Lawyers in Collaborative Law: Family Law" for 2013. Sheila was also named by Best Lawyers in America as the Family Law Mediator of the Year for 2012. She has been named a Family Law Mediation "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers Maryland and one of Maryland's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record. The Daily Record has named Sheila an "Influential Marylander" in 2008 and 2012. She was selected as one of Baltimore's thirty best lawyers in the November 1998 issue of Baltimore Magazine.
Presently the Chair of the Appellate Court's Nominating Commission for the State of Maryland, Sheila is active in Bar Association activities and is a former President of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. In addition, she has served on various boards, including the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners, the Judicial Nominating Commission for Baltimore City, the Board of Trustees of Goucher College and the Board of Managers of Haverford College.
Sheila is a member of the Maryland Collaborative Law Association and is certified by the Collaborative Practice Training Institute (CPTI). Sheila is a member of ADR Maryland, a panel of highly-experienced and widely-respected neutral Maryland attorneys who are trained and skilled in alternative dispute resolution. ADR Maryland members are all AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have extensive and diverse litigation experience.
