With 13 years’ experience in private practice, Sergey specialises mainly in commercial litigation and insolvency. He represents corporate clients in lawsuits concerning breach of contractual obligations, state import and export regulations, and protection of industrial ownership, as well as IP and competition matters. Sergey also regularly advises on complex insolvency cases, recovery of debts, and related litigation.
Recent work highlights include representation of a local real estate developer in Moscow in a lasting, controversial, and precedent-setting dispute with the Russian Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) on the transfer of state real property to the client (2013 - 2018); legal defence of Spartak, a famous Russian ice-hockey club, in a dispute on IP rights for promotional merchandise (2018 - present); and advising a TOP-3 Russian bank on USD 200-m+ bankruptcy proceedings against a Russian company rendering services for the construction of power-generating facilities (2016 - present).
Prior to joining Ivanyan and Partners in 2007, Sergey worked in a law firm based in Moscow and taught law.
