Sergei Kushnarenko focuses mainly on large-scale investment projects in Russia and has extensive experience in M&A and real estate transactions.
With 16 years in private practice, Sergei advises on the acquisition/sale of stakes in public and private companies, structuring joint ventures, and various other corporate law matters. Recent work highlights in the area include legal support to Gazprombank in the $1-b acquisition of a 19% stake in Megafon, one of Russia’s BIG-3 mobile network operators, from the Swedish Telia Company (2017) and advice to a Chinese real property corporation on the envisaged $600-m+ acquisition of a majority shareholding in a Russian investment company with a large portfolio of commercial real estate in Moscow (2018).
Sergei also has significant experience in construction and real estate issues and PPP/infrastructure projects. Among the recent highlights are advice to a private Russian investment group on a $2.1-b project for the construction of an LNG-transshipment terminal in the Russian Far East and a legally complex change of management company for a $180-m business district in a prestigious Moscow neighbourhood (2019).
Prior to joining Ivanyan and Partners in 2014, Sergei worked for 11 years in the Moscow offices of Debevoise & Plimpton and Herbert Smith Freehills.
