Q&A

Tell us a little bit about your practice and what makes it unique.

  • As a small firm our senior partners are involved hands on in every case we accept. My education, training, and experience is similar to those of BigLaw lawyers, which means my clients have the same level of legal representation as major corporations who choose my BigLaw colleagues but with more responsiveness from senior lawyers and at a fraction of the cost.

My decision to leave BigLaw was for the express purpose of serving clients with complex business issues but who cannot afford the cost of those firms. Controlling costs also serves our primary goal of fighting the perception (and often reality) that disputes are decided by who has the deepest pockets. Admittedly, we cannot eradicate this problem but our flexibility, use of technology and focus on results can reduce it.

For almost 30 years, my primary focus has been on complex business and construction disputes. For the last 20 years I have served as a neutral in arbitration and mediation in hundreds of cases. This experience combined with a continuing litigation practice provides me (and my clients) with an unsual level of incite into the dispute resolution process. My litigation practice makes me a better neutral and my neutral services makes me a better litigator. Altogether this allows me a perspective that helps my client avoid disputes in the first place or to prevent them from escalating.
