Richard H. Malchon, Jr. joined Adams and Reese in 2010 following the firm’s expansion into the Tampa Bay Area. He has been practicing law since 1974 and is a Partner in the firm’s Transactions and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Group. Rick is also a member of the firm’s Claims Counsel Committee and Ethics Committee.
For more than 35 years, Rick has engaged in a general commercial litigation practice with a focus on the representation of lenders in real estate, construction and asset based loan workouts and creditors in all aspects of Chapter 11 reorganizations and complex Chapter 7 liquidations together with general creditor rights matters. Rick also has significant experience in defending lender liability claims.
His professional achievements include:
- Co-author and lecturer of Florida Mortgage Foreclosures.
- Lectured to and written for numerous professional and client groups in the areas of loan workouts, lender liability, bankruptcy and creditors' rights.
- Ranked among Best Lawyers® in Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law.
He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Southern District of Florida.
In the professional community, Rick is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a member of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar, Hillsborough County Bar and the St. Petersburg Bar Associations.
He received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law in 1974, and his B.A. from Emory University in 1970.
