Patrick J. Cummins acts for capital market clients in connection with securities law offerings, M&A transactions, and stock exchange compliance; his concentration is on a legal area that changes very rapidly. Since joining Blaney McMurtry LLP, he has provided ongoing advice to public and private companies and mutual fund companies. Patrick also services registrants and public issuers with respect to regulatory compliance, financing issues, investor communications and other regulated matters.
Patrick is Co-Chair of the firm’s Cannabis Group. He has proven experience and results in the cannabis regulatory field having assisted companies, investors, and other industry participants on a full range of services including licensing matters and Canadian Securities Exchange listing.
Patrick has been a speaker at securities law and cannabis law forums and an instructor at the Law Society of Ontario’s Bar Admission Course. He has written papers on: “Start-ups, Smaller Businesses in Ontario, Other Provinces Stand to Benefit from New Crowdfunding Rules for Raising Capital”; “New Registration Rules Alter Canadian Securities Landscape Significantly”, “Information Technology and the Future of Canadian Securities Law" and in the emerging area of cannabis law.
As past President and Chairman of the Board of The DAM Develop-Assist-Mentor, a not-for-profit charitable organization, Patrick has partnered with youth to create an inclusive community where all are welcomed, valued and respected.
