Morris S. Bauer is a Member in the Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group at Norris McLaughlin & Marcus.
Mo has represented debtors, creditor committees, banks, and stand-alone creditors in the Chapter 11 proceedings of publicly and closely-held corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. The Representative businesses include a mutli-store regional supermarket chain, a national distributor of electronics, several New Jersey residential developers, one of northern New Jersey's largest income-producing property, construction contractors, small businesses, and restaurants. Representation of creditor committees includes a large-scale regional mail distributor, regional retail chains, and a computer software outsourcing business to several Fortune 500 companies. Mo has also been appointed as a liquidating trustee and unsecured creditor disbursing agent in several cases.
Representative debtor clients have included The Grand Union Company, Emerson Radio Corp., Treasure Island, Inc., Precision Custom Coatings, LLC, The Furniture King, Inc., Albanil Dyestuff Corporation, and Bridgewater Sports Arena, L.P.; Creditor Committee Counsel representation in B. Moss Clothing Company, Lot Stores, and Integral Nuclear Associates; and Bank representation of Fulton Bank N.A. and Skylands Community Bank.
Mo has served as an instructor for the New Jersey Skills and Methods Course required for newly-admitted attorneys and has participated as one of the Masters of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Inn of Court. Mo has also been a lecturer as a break-out panelist for the annual New Jersey Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Conference and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Prior to practicing law, Mo served as a student law clerk to the Honorable Joseph Goldstein, New York Supreme Court, Nassau County, and as a senior accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co. in its Corporate Recovery Services Division from 1988 to 1990.
Mo has also been involved in a number of civic activities. He served as a member of the Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey Economic Development Committee from 1996 to 2003, and was the Chairman thereof from 1998 to 2000. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Washington Township, Morris County Zoning Board of Adjustments.
