Matthew Halpin is a senior lawyer in our Ottawa-based litigation group. His practice includes corporate and commercial litigation, insurance, restructuring and insolvency, real estate disputes, property assessment, arbitration, environmental and trust litigation, dispute resolution and administrative tribunal work.
He has extensive experience acting for corporations, chartered banks, trust companies and other financial institutions. Mr. Halpin has acted as counsel in numerous alternative dispute resolution (ADR) files, including ad hoc arbitrations and mediations. He has completed mediation courses with Stitt Feld Handy, obtaining certificates from the University of Windsor Law in ADR and advanced ADR workshops and holds an Executive Certificate in Conflict Management. He is available as a mediator.
Mr. Halpin has appeared before all levels of the Ontario provincial courts, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Federal Court of Canada and the Ontario Assessment Review Board. He has international experience before the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration. Fluently bilingual, he pleads cases in both English and French.
