Matt provides legal counsel and litigation services on a broad range of employment law issues. His employment practice includes compliance counseling, employment discrimination litigation, drafting and enforcement of employment agreements and restrictive covenants, internal investigations, and employment-related mediations. He has been recognized by Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, The American Lawyer, Martindale-Hubbell, and Delaware Today.
Drawing on his prior service with the Delaware Supreme Court’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel and the Board of Bar Examiners, Matt also represents attorneys, physicians, social workers, and other professionals in regulatory and disciplinary proceedings. He also provides opinions on legal ethics issues and is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs on legal ethics.
Since 2008, the Delaware Superior Court has appointed Matt to serve as a special master in cases pending in its Complex Commercial Litigation Division as well as in its crowded asbestos personal injury litigation docket. In that capacity, he resolves non-dispositive motions and assists the Court with jury selection. See, e.g., In re Asbestos Litig., 2016 WL 7404547 (Del. Super. Ct. Oct. 17, 2016) (granting motion to quash certain jurisdictional discovery). Matt is an active member of the Rodney Inns of Court and has served on the boards of several charitable organizations, including (currently) the St. Thomas More Society and Sacred Heart Village II, which provides permanent affordable housing for seniors in Wilmington.
