Margie Corwin is a Member in the Firm's Financial Services and Government Relations Group. Her practice focuses on regulated financial services with an emphasis on consumer credit and residential lending and brokering.
Margie is widely respected for her extensive knowledge of federal and state mortgage banking and mortgage brokering issues. She is a frequent lecturer on the topics of Truth in Lending, Real Estate Settlement Procedures, Fair Credit Reporting, Equal Credit Opportunity, Maryland Mortgage Lending and Brokering, Maryland Credit Laws, and Litigation in Consumer Finance.
In addition, Margie advises banks and other depository institutions on a wide range of issues relating to deposits including check fraud, deposit account agreements, expedited funds availability, and attachments, liens, and levies. She has presented lectures on Uniform Commercial Code Articles 3 and 4, Check Fraud, Fiduciary Issues for Deposit Accounts, and Litigation regarding Garnishments, Liens and Levies.
For many years Margie has served as a registered lobbyist and represents banking and a variety of other business interests before the Maryland General Assembly.
From 2003 to 2007, Margie served as Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's Business Law Section Committee on Consumer Financial Services. She served three terms as Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's Business Law Section Committee on Consumer Credit and Financial Institutions. Margie also served two terms on the MSBA Business Law Council.
Margie was named by The Best Lawyers in America as the 2014 Baltimore "Lawyer of the Year" in Financial Services Regulation Law, and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America 2006 - 2009 for Financial Institutions and Transactions Law, 2010 - 2011 for Banking Law, 2012 - 2015 for Financial Services Regulation Law, and 2013 - 2015 for Litigation - Banking & Finance. She has served on the Board of Regents of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers and on the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law.
