Larry Greenwald is the senior member of the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group. His practice focuses on complex litigation, both trials and appeals, including multi-state litigation. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1964. Between 1964 and 1966, he served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Infantry Captain. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1965 and the Maryland Bar in 1969.
Between 1966 and 1969, Larry served as a trial attorney in the United States Department of Justice. He has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1982. In 2001, Larry was selected as one of ten "Lawyers of the Year" by Lawyers Weekly USA, which selected the attorneys from the more than a million lawyers throughout the country who had a "noticeable impact on the law and legal system in this country." He also has been recognized in "The Best Lawyers in America," has received the Daily Record’s “Leadership In Law” award, and has been named as a Maryland “Super Lawyer.” Also, "Best Lawyers in America" has named him as the 2012 Baltimore Lawyer of the Year in Litigation - Banking & Finance and the 2013 Baltimore Lawyer of the Year in Litigation - Real Estate.
Since joining Gordon Feinblatt in 1969, Larry has served as lead counsel in a broad spectrum of cases. Many of them have involved issues of first impression and significant constitutional litigation. He has argued before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Larry has litigated in the areas of real estate, contracts, corporations and partnerships, and torts such as fraud and misrepresentation. He has handled more specialized litigation in the areas of employment, construction, banking, financial services, environmental, antitrust, securities and health care law. He also has handled cases involving medical, legal and accounting malpractice, and has defended clients in criminal cases, including Medicaid and mail fraud, arson, vehicular manslaughter and assault on a federal officer.
Most recently, Larry has served as lead litigation counsel in defending a group of financial service companies in class action lawsuits and arbitration in several states. Also, Larry has served as national trial and appellate counsel defending a firearms manufacturer in nationwide litigation brought by New York State and various municipalities and individuals. He has served as lead counsel in multi-state litigation defending a Roman Catholic order of priests in child abuse cases. He also has served as lead trial and appellate counsel in multi-state financial services litigation. He also has served as a mediator and arbitrator in a variety of cases.
Larry is a member of ADR Maryland, a panel of highly-experienced and widely-respected neutral Maryland attorneys who are trained and skilled in alternative dispute resolution practices. ADR Maryland members are all AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have extensive and diverse litigation and courtroom experience.
