Karen J. Custer is a Member of the firm and has been practicing law since 1989. Her practice is concentrated in matters relating to real estate and construction.
Ms. Custer has represented developers, landlords, tenants, commercial and industrial property owners, school systems and individuals in matters relating to the acquisition, sale, leasing and zoning of real property. She has also represented banks with matters relating to mortgages and the foreclosure of real property.
Ms. Custer has represented developers in creating residential and commercial condominium projects.
Ms. Custer possesses experience in the construction industry. She has represented owners, contractors and subcontractors in matters relating to construction liens.

Ms. Custer is involved in a number of professional associations, including the Home and Building Association of Greater Grand Rapids, the Economic Club of Grand Rapids and Inforum. She is also a member of several law-related organizations, including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association, where she is serving on the executive committee of the Real Estate Section. She is listed in “The Best Lawyers in America®” for Real Estate Law.
Ms. Custer received her law degree, cum laude, in 1989 from Stetson University College of Law and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, in 1984 from Hope College. She is admitted to practice in Michigan.
