Julian is the Global Head of Shipping for Hill Dickinson having overall management responsibility for the entire Shipping Group across its International network. As well as being the Manager of the group, Julian is a wet and dry shipping specialist, whose specialisation ranges from complex contractual and casualty dispute resolution to marine insurance and policy wording expertise.
He has been ranked in Who's Who Legal, Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500 and Super Lawyers consistently since 2010, these publications referring to his knowledge of P&I, FDD, and Trade Disruption Insurance as, "second to none", his legal approach as, "knowledgeable and commercial" and as having, “excellent communication skills" being "personable with clients and a fine case handler".
Legal 500 2015 singled him out for praise by clients, where he is listed as a Leading Individual. He was again a Featured Lawyer in Who’s Who Legal 2015 with Chambers and Partners 2015 stating “Julian Clark is especially noted for his wet shipping work, advising on matters such as casualties, piracy and marine insurance". One source states that he has "a very refreshing approach and has his feet squarely on the ground." Julian has also been listed in the Best Lawyers in the UK for Shipping 2016 as a leader in his field.
Julian was previously with Clifford Chance, and the North of England P&I Club. Prior to founding CJC he was an Equity Partner of Holman Fenwick Willan.
