Joe focuses his legal practice on environmental regulatory counseling and litigation as well as land use counseling and litigation. He also handles related commercial matters. He has substantial experience representing companies and municipalities in hazardous waste site clean-up actions, including prosecuting and defending environmental claims involving private parties and municipalities. Joe has considerable experience in litigating land use matters on behalf of private parties as well as municipalities.
Joe’s environmental practice includes counseling public and private corporations on complying with federal and state regulatory requirements concerning storing, maintaining, and handling, petroleum, hazardous substances and hazardous wastes. He has substantial experience in counseling clients on compliance with New York and Federal Statutory and other Law regarding discharges from operations including under the Federal Clean Water Act and New York State’s Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program. His practice also includes environmental investigations, including due diligence matters undertaken pursuant to transactions. He assists companies in auditing their operations for such transactions, and in preparation for governmental audits and investigations. Joe also counsels clients concerning issues arising under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) including counseling clients on land use and zoning issues. He has extensive experience in litigating such matters, as well as general trial and appellate work before state and federal courts.
Joe also has considerable experience in counseling clients concerning insurance coverage issues and has represented policy holders and carriers in insurance coverage litigation.
