John's primary practice areas are health law, nonprofit governance and management, and risk management. In addition to being listed in Best Lawyers, he is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and is listed in Kansas and Missouri Superlawyers under the Health Law category. He is general counsel to Salina Regional Health Center. He is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association and has served three terms on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys of he was President during 2006-2007. He is an officer of the Kansas Bar Assocation Health Law Section. He has served on the Kansas Commission on Judicial Qualifications by appointment from the Kansas Supreme Court. He has been a continuing education speaker for the American Health Lawyers Association, several Kansas Bar Association health programs, and has conducted a variety of seminars for clients. In 2005 he published “The 8 Principles of Effective Governance: A Handbook for Nonprofit Directors”. He is licensed in Kansas, Colorado, the U.S. District Court, the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also served as a director and in leadership positions in a number of charitable organizations including the Greater Salina Community Foundation, the Kansas University Endowment Association, the Salina Family YMCA, and the Salina Family YMCA Endowment.
