John Moore is a partner in the Charleston office of Bowles Rice with a special interest in health care, with an emphasis on hospital and physician business issues. He has more than 25 years' experience in physician recruitment, employment and payor contracting and practice acquisition and management. Mr. Moore serves as general counsel to the West Virginia Mutual Insurance Company (largest medical malpractice insuror in the state).
Both academic and private practice operations are a part of Mr. Moore's background. He built and managed one of the largest Management Services Organizations (MSO) in the East, which supported over 200 physicians. He knows the dynamics of both specialist and primary care physician practices. He frequently lectures hospital, physician and resident audiences on a wide variety of health care law and contract issues.
Mr. Moore earned his law degree in 1973 from the West Virginia University College of Law. He was a member of Mountain, West Virginia University’s ranking honorary. He is active in community initiatives ranging from serving two terms as Chairman of the Board for Goodwill Industries, long-term participation in Read Aloud WV, serving as Chairman of the West Virginia Multiple Sclerosis Chapter, volunteering for church and Boy Scout fund raising and serving as a Board Member of the Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center. He and his wife, Joni, have been married for more than 30 years.
