Jack Clymer is senior counsel in Nixon Peabody's Private Clients group and a member of the firm’s investment committee. He serves as a trustee of a number of private and charitable trusts and counsels individuals and families on wealth creation, accumulation and management strategies.
What do you focus on?
I focus on wealth management structures and practices, including tax and estate planning advice. Clients include families, owners of closely held businesses, trustees of private trusts and individuals focused on preserving and managing their wealth.
I work with family offices and families to develop and assist in the execution of investment policies, serve on investment committees and advise charities on the legal, tax and fiduciary aspects of endowment management.
One recent engagement has been to advise clients in taking a portfolio approach to the purchase of insurance as an integrated portion of the clients’ investment assets, given the perceived risks inherent in the current investment grade fixed income markets.
Another has been to assist a family in evaluating the possible sale of one of the family’s businesses through engaging an investment banking firm and creating a process for that evaluation designed to be the least disruptive to their ongoing business activities.
