James focuses his practice on representing health care providers of all types and sizes—including large health care systems, academic medical centers, medical schools, community and specialty hospitals as well as individual practitioners.
What do you focus on?
As a result of my over three decades as a health care attorney, including ten years as an in-house counsel at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, I understand the issues unique to health care providers. I use that experience to serve my clients as outside general and special counsel on myriad matters affecting their operations and personnel.
My industry knowledge and decades of experience enable me to guide my clients through a broad range of matters, including structuring of physician-hospital relationships, affiliation arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, managed care, fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid, professional and general liability insurance, medical staff membership and interactions with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
Clients also turn to me to handle significant and sensitive litigation matters, including those related to medical staff issues, the False Claims Act and third-party reimbursement.
