Jay Matthews is an advocate for technology companies. He has a strong background in cases involving the construction, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries. He leads the Firm's Construction Practice Group.
Mr. Matthews helps clients in litigation involving contract disputes, business torts, fiduciary law and shareholder claims.
Mr. Matthews negotiates and reviews agreements for complex business transactions. He was honored as one of the "Legal Elite of the Upstate" in Greenville Business Magazine (Construction, 2015).
- Obtained a jury verdict in a contract dispute involving a coastal golf club.
- Upheld the property rights of an owner in a case that he argued before the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Rockville Haven, LLC v. Town of Rockville, 714. S.E.2d 277 (S.C. 2011)
- Represented a contractor in a large number of lawsuits related to the construction of an German-owned automotive plant.
Having served in the Air Force as an engineer, managing deployments and construction projects in Bosnia and Saudi Arabia, Mr. Matthews was featured in a June, 2010, SC Biz magazine article.
