IRVING J. KERN is a principal in the firm's Real Estate, Business & Corporate, Trusts & Estates, Physicians Practices, and Commercial Lending Groups. Resident in the firm's Bridgeport office, Mr. Kern practices in the areas of real estate, business transactions, contracts, corporate, estate planning and probate law, and real estate based commercial lending. Mr. Kern represents buyers, sellers and lenders in connection with real estate and business transactions. He served as managing partner of the firm from 1994 through 2010.
Mr. Kern is admitted to practice in Connecticut, the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He is a member of the Bridgeport, Connecticut and American Bar Associations.
Mr. Kern is a former president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Bridgeport and of the Jewish Family Services of Greater Bridgeport. He also served as chairman of the Bridgeport Council of Presidents. He is an active member of the Bridgeport Hospital's Professional and Quality Assurance Review Committee and a former member of the Board of Directors of Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Kern previously served as a member of the Fairfield County Commercial Division Regional Advisory Board of Fleet Bank, prior to its merger with Bank of America.
Mr. Kern is recognized for his work in the area of Real Estate by Connecticut Super Lawyers (2007-2015), as well as by The Best Lawyers in America (2013-2016 editions).
He received his B.S. with high honors in 1968 from the University of Connecticut (Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi), and his J.D. in 1971 from the University of Virginia School of Law.
