Ilya Smirnov is a Russian law qualified lawyer having degree in law awarded by the State Academic University for the Humanities. Ilya also has Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in Corporate and Securities Law awarded by the University of London (UCL, Queen Mary) with Merit. Along with academic achievements, he has gained wide practical experience in legal support of cross-border acquisitions and corporate finance transactions, governed primarily by Russian and English law. Ilya is also advising on complicated corporate law matters, and giving legal support to securities placements, public and private offerings of stocks and debt instruments, securitisation, legal due diligence.
Before joining ALTHAUS Legal Ilya worked for several prominent Russian law firms in such practice fields as Corporate, M&A, Capital Markets, Banking and Finance. He also worked for the federal executive authority on the financial markets (currently the Central Bank of Russia).
