Heather MacMillan-Brown, Q.C., is a highly respected litigation lawyer with years of experience in the areas of medical negligence, professional regulation, and education matters. Heather has built her career on a foundation of strong legal expertise and trusted relationships with her clients.
Heather regularly defends professionals in both court actions and disciplinary matters. She has represented her clients before all levels of Saskatchewan courts, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the College of Medicine, and various other administrative bodies. In addition, Heather acts as legal counsel to professional regulatory bodies.
Prior to joining the firm, Heather articled with the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina.
Heather provides pragmatic advice and counsel in a number of areas:
Administrative law: acting for individuals facing disciplinary action before professional regulatory bodies and providing advice to professional regulatory bodies with respect to policies and processes.
Education law: acting for individuals with matters before various committees of the University of Saskatchewan and other educational bodies.
Litigation: acting for individuals and businesses in commercial and civil disputes.
Heather has been extensively involved in the Canadian Bar Association for much of her career. In 2007, she was appointed to the Executive of CBA Saskatchewan as Communications Chair and held that position until September 2010. In her capacity as Communication Chair, she served as the editor of Bar Notes, CBA Saskatchewan’s quarterly publication. In 2009, Heather was appointed to the CBA National Communications Committee. Heather served as President of the Saskatchewan Branch of the CBA from 2013-2014. Most recently, she became a member of the National Awards Committee of the CBA.
Heather is also actively involved in the Saskatoon United Way. She was a Co-Chair of the Professions Division of the 2014 Community Campaign. In 2015, she became Co-Chair of the Campaign Cabinet and continues in that role for the 2016 Campaign. Heather is also a member of the Saskatoon United Way Board of Directors for 2016-2017.
Heather was a member of the Board of Directors of Autism Services from 2013-2015.
