Erin Fury Parkinson focuses her practice on insurance coverage, including defense matters, bad faith, director’s and officer’s liability, CGL policies, aviation, environmental, toxic exposure (including asbestos, benzene, and NORM claims), and product claims. While a significant portion of her practice is composed of litigation in Louisiana and Texas state and federal courts, her practice has also included cases in several other states, including Florida, Nevada, Georgia, Mississippi, and Colorado. Erin has successfully represented her clients before the Federal 11th Circuit Court of Appeal, the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeal and, most recently, the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal. In some instances, Erin has served as local counsel for insurance companies and is respected for her abilities to work collaboratively with designated national counsel. Recently, she served as local counsel as part of the trial preparation team for a national insurance company in a class action suit wherein nominal damages were awarded after a bench trial in which the Court substantially limited the prior definition of the class. In the same case, she was charged, and successfully argued, a pre-trial motion to dismiss claims against a related insurer based on lack of occurrence during the policy period. In another insurance coverage dispute in Nevada, she was lead consulting counsel on behalf of a client in arguing that an insured’s lack of notice served as a bar to preclude an insurer’s liability for judgment obtained by a third-party. Erin is proud that over ninety-five percent of her work is referred to her by many of the top insurance companies in today’s competitive market.
Erin is licensed and practices in Louisiana and Texas and offices primarily in New Orleans.
