Davis served as the Managing Director of Boult Cummings Conners & Berry from 1984 to 1995. He lectures frequently on such subjects as corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, e-commerce and business ethics, and is active in civic and community affairs. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fisk University; past Chairman of Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee; past Founding Chairman of the Nashville Downtown Partnership. He previously served as a Director of the Nashville Symphony Association; as a Director, Member of the Executive Committee, Vice-Chair for Regional and Governmental Relations, and General Counsel to the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; Director of the Greater Nashville Arts Foundation; and as a Director and President of the Cumberland Museums. He currently serves as Trustee of The Houghland Foundation, the Volunteer Horsemen's Foundation, the Bright Hour Trust, and the Institute for Behavioral Studies. He previously served as a Trustee of the Carnton Association, and is an Honorary Life Trustee of the Cumberland Museums. Davis was a Leadership Nashville participant in the Class of 1976-1977, was President of the Leadership Nashville Alumni Association in 1978-1979, and now serves on the Board of and is Finance Chairman for Leadership Nashville. He is a past campaign chair and current member of the Community Advisory Board of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee. He has been active in state and local politics.
Davis has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, for his banking law practice for more than 18 years. He also is listed inMarquis Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, Kentucky and American Bar Associations. He is also a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and the Nashville Bar Foundation.
