Mr. Watt has more than 30 years experience in managing major litigation matters, ranging from trade practices and takeover disputes to tort and criminal law. His principal area of practice involves representing medical and other professionals in civil claims for negligence, before disciplinary boards and tribunals, in coronial inquests, and in prosecutions.
Mr. Watt acts in indemnity disputes and provides advice on policy issues. He also has broad litigation experience including defending professionals in criminal prosecutions ranging from fraud to sexual assault and manslaughter. His commercial litigation experience covers banking and insolvency litigation, corporate litigation, trade practices litigation, and taxation disputes. In addition to litigious matters, he has advised public and private companies on commercial and corporate governance matters including advice regarding mergers and acquisitions, directors' duties, and general compliance with corporations legislation. His clients include large Australian indemnity insurers.
