David Harlow is a registered patent attorney and concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property and technology matters, including litigation and transactions. His intellectual property litigation practice includes matters involving patent, trademark and copyright infringement, technical (primarily chemical and computer) trade secrets, and comparative advertising and advertising injury claims. Mr. Harlow represents both corporations, and insurance companies that insure intellectual property and advertising injury claims.
On the transactional side, David has filed and prosecuted several hundred trademark applications, both domestic and foreign. His trademark licensing work has covered complex international and domestic issues in deals for Fortune 500 companies, and includes several licenses with multi-million dollar royalty streams.
David’s industry experience includes pharmaceuticals, medical devices, chemicals, adhesives, crop science and crop protection, seed varieties, genetically modified organisms, computer software and databases, laser printers and cartridges, and telecom electronic measurement equipment .
He served five years as District Trial Counsel with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he tried a number of environmental, construction, engineering, and government contract matters. David has been recognized by both The Best Lawyers in America© (2013-2015) and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite (2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015) in the field of intellectual property.
