Mr. Velasquez began his legal career in 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he represented individuals and small business in Chapter 11 cases throughout Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Dan’s efforts during his first five years of practice saved jobs within his local community and resulted in the discharge of millions of dollars in debt for his clients.
In 2015, Mr. Velasquez moved to Orlando, Florida to pursue a position within the bankruptcy group at Latham, Luna, Eden & Beaudine, LLP. His move to Orlando has been nothing short of a success. In 2020 and 2021 Dan was recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of bankruptcy law, a Rising Star by Orlando Magazine, a 40 under 40 Honoree by the Orlando Business Journal and was recognized in the inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in the area of Bankruptcy Law. In his first four years with the Latham Luna firm he was promoted to partner within the bankruptcy group, at which time he had been practicing for less than eight (8) years. During his time with Latham Luna, Dan continued his early success and contributed to the successful Chapter 11 cases of several Central Florida businesses, including a local airline, flooring retailer, restaurant chain, medical provider and computer technology company to name a few. Dan also represented a creditor in the Toys R Us bankruptcy and a creditor in the Woodbridge Securities Chapter 11 case which involved a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, one of the largest in U.S. history.
Mr. Velasquez hopes to continue his growth within the bankruptcy community and continue to serve his local community through both civic and professional organizations.
